Sopore, Sep 24 (KNO): Unemployed agriculture graduates associated with SKUAST-K, Wadura, held a candlelight protest on Thursday as their agitation over recruitment opportunities continued for the fourth consecutive day.
The protesters told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the candlelight protest was aimed at drawing attention to their demands for regular recruitment, filling of vacant posts and a clear recruitment calendar for agriculture professionals in Jammu and Kashmir.
The protesters also sought a review of SRO-442 of 2017, which changed the recruitment structure for Junior Agriculture Extension Officer posts by making them promotional. “It has been 20 years since any recruitment advertisement was issued,” a protesting graduate said.
The graduates urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and initiate a dialogue with their representatives.—(KNO)
